The Food Hub - Helping those who need it

We are delighted to have been chosen by the Coop to be one of the local charities that they support for a year - please select us as your charity of choice

Woodingdean is a caring community. The people here do a lot to help each other.

We believe the Food Hub is an important part of this, helping those most in need, with our “Social supermarket” model.

Why is it needed?

Well, people’s lives can change in an instant, none of us are immune. Illness, unemployment, loss of a loved one, or relationship, can affect us all. The Food Hub provides food and a meeting place for those who need it, when they need it.

Since forming during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have come to know our clients well. There are many people in Woodingdean who, through no fault of their own, live on the breadline. We support them, making our community a better place to live, for all of us.

To date, we have helped more than 180 people from this area and including their households, around 400 people have benefitted.

We never turn someone hungry away without help.

Completely run by volunteers.  We are funded by contributions from clients, small grants from government/ charities, and generous donations from our residents.

Even so, we need more to enable us to carry on and meet the ever increasing needs of our community.

Can you help?

You can donate direct  or alternatively email us for further details.

Every penny donated has a positive impact on the local community.
Thank you for your support.
